This course is designed for participants who do not need to be trained as lifeguards, but who require certification in victim recognition and general first aid topics. The class includes an in-water skills session to practice basic water rescue techniques, designed to assist victims and keep them face-up until more help arrives. This course is excellent for camp counselors, health and fitness facility employees, and others who are around water on a regular basis.
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites to be eligible for the Basic WaterRescue course. However, because there is an in-water skills session, itis recommended that participants are comfortable in chest deep water.
Requirements:

Attend and participate in all course sessions;

Demonstrate competency in all required skills listed on the skills checklist;

Pass the final written examination with a score of 80 percent or better.
